Nestled in the bend of the Yadkin River for which it was named you will find Yadkin County.    Yadkin County still maintains a great deal of yesteryear charm but is just minutes from Winston Salem with all it's modern conveniences.  A great deal of people chose to live in Yadkin County and commute to jobs in Winston Salem in order to lead a simplier life and avoid the hustle and bustle that comes with a larger city.

While visiting Yadkin County be sure to visit the numerous wineries in the county.  Just to name a few are Ragapple Lassie, Laurel Gray, Flint Hill Vineyard, Divine Llama, Sanders Ridge, Shadow Springs, Dobbins Creek  and Buck Shoals Vineyard.  You will enjoy the time spent at each of these wineries and most of the wineries have special events on the weekends.

Yadkin County is home to a growing Amish popluation.  The Amish are choosing to relocate from Pennsylvania and Ohio to Yadkin County for modern conveniences.  The operate Amish stores, markets and build furniture.  You can purchase their work at the Amith Community Market on Windsor Road, Tuesday-Friday from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m. and on Saturdays 9-6.  You must stop at the Shiloh General Store at 5520 St. Paul Church Road in Hamptonville Tuesday-Friday from 8 a.m. until 6 p.m. and Saturdays 8-4.  You will step back in time to the feel of the old general stores.

For the fisherman and water lovers Yadkin County is bordered by the Yadkin River.  You can enjoy a day of fishing or canoeing on the Yadkin River.  Yadkin County has 4 river access outlets in which you can put your boat or canoe into the water.  Just enjoy drifting down the Yadkin River and enjoying the sites along the river.

Have you ever seen popcorn grown or harvested, Yadkin County is home to the Shallowford Farms Popcorn, Inc.  Shallowford Farms is a family owned business that grows, harvests and pops popcorn.  Popcorn is all that this farm does.  They offer tours and an outlet store in which to purchase their popcorn.
