Possibly an unknown fact to some is that North Carolina has a history of winemaking. In recent years, the Yadkin Valley Wine Region was named the first American Viticultural Area in North Carolina. There are several vineyards and wineries in the Yadkin Valley area that are open to the public for tours, wine-tasting, and other events throughout the year. For the past 4 years, the Yadkin Valley Wine Festival has been held in May at the Elkin Municipal Park. The Yadkin Valley Wine Festival is open to the public and is attended by people from all across the country and around the world. Local wine vendors, food vendors, and craftsman set up booths and displays. Those attending the Wine Festival can enjoy live entertainment, food, fun, and activities for the entire family. The Annual Yadkin Valley Wine Festival is held in May.
Below are links to the vineyards and wineries in the Yadkin Valley Wine Region of Surry County, Wilkes County, and Yadkin County. You may click on any of the vineyard icons on this page for more information. This page also features a "wineries" list.
